Did you know that Vantage Credit Union is a unique financial institution? That’s right. We’re a not-for-profit financial cooperative. Each member is a part owner. But do you understand what a cooperative is? Or what your membership in this cooperative means?
By definition, a cooperative is an autonomous association of people united voluntarily to meet their economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled business. Cooperatives include not-for-profit financial institutions that are owned and managed by the people who use their services.
So, your $5 general share you made upon opening your account made you an owner of the credit union. This is your credit union.
How do member-owners benefit?
The more our member-owners use the loan, deposit and convenience services Vantage offers, the more we are able to pass along benefits like better pricing, new services, and enhanced technologies. Member-owners also benefit from services, special pricing and programs offered through our partnership with organizations like CO-OP Network ATMs, Enterprise, Six Flags, The Muny and more.
What’s the key to a cooperative’s success?
A cooperative succeeds when it’s able to improve the lives of its members. And the key to this success is participation! A cooperative can thrive when members are fully involved.
Members desire competitive rates, services and convenience, like online banking, access via a mobile app and other technologies. How can we achieve this? By fully utilizing your credit union. For example, you may have a savings account or a checking account with Vantage, but nothing else. Consider moving your vehicle loan to Vantage as well. Or, you have a credit card, but it isn’t a Vantage credit card. We offer competitive rates and offer a credit card for every need. Are you thinking of doing some renovations? Consider a home equity line-of-credit. We even offer access to mortgage, investment and insurance services!
With full participation, we’re able to continue to enhance upon the services and benefits available to our members!
So, what’s your role? Evaluate your current relationship with Vantage. Consider the full range of services and benefits available to you. We’re here to help you succeed in improving your financial life.
