Shred Day Success!
Vantage Credit Union offers its members more than just banking services. We also take pride in providing our members with opportunities to build smart financial habits! With spring-cleaning well underway, members were invited to purge the paper clutter and worry of identity theft with professional shredding services.
The proper disposal of personal documents is incredibly important to mitigate the chances of clever thieves collecting the information necessary to take out loans or credit cards in your name. This year’s collection was held in the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre parking lot (you might have seen some dinosaurs too!) and 3 trucks were present for speedy collection. A special thank you goes to the many Vantage employees and volunteers present from the St. Louis Regional Financial Empowerment Coalition.
Throughout the morning, we collected and safely destroyed over 18,800 pounds of personal paperwork. If you aren’t shredding your personal documents, consider purchasing a personal shredder to use at home or keep an eye out for future shred events.
In addition to document shredding, St. Louis BWorks was present to collect bicycle donations. St. Louis BWorks is an incredible organization that gives bikes to kids after they complete a course on bicycle safety and maintenance. Their programs teach kids to work both independently and as a group, and inspires community engagement through volunteer opportunities and more. This year, we collected over 60 bicycles that will be used in their program.
