Vantage Announces Our 2020 Quest For Education Recipients
In 1957, a group of teachers gathered in a basement to form our financial cooperative. Despite the humble origins, Vantage is still a credit union intimately tied to our community, dedicated to supporting education, and driven by the philosophy of People Helping People.
Over 60 years later, not only are we still here, but we’re still empowering our members to reach their financial goals—and for our young members, we’re helping them reach their goals of higher education. Our Quest For Education Scholarship (QFE) has supported college-bound high school seniors for over 25 years—and over the years we’ve granted more than $692,500 in scholarships to students.
This year, we awarded ten of our members who are graduating seniors $1,000 each to support them as they begin the next chapter of their education. Here are the 2020 Quest For Education Scholarship recipients and their high schools listed in alphabetical order:
- Rose Ampleman – Incarnate Word Academy
- Gideon Boaten – Ladue Horton Watkins High School
- Chadney Brown – Belleville West High School
- Ellen Davis – Francis Howell North High School
- Dax Durmin – Fort Zumwalt North High School
- Adam Kendrick – Pattonville High School
- Jonah Krieg – Festus High School
- Carson Ramirez – Francis Howell North High School
- Anna Reinsch – Incarnate Word Academy
- Emily Schrumpf – Pattonville High School
Every year a dedicated group of volunteers made up of local educators, Vantage Board and Supervisory Committee members, and select employees serve as QFE Selection Committee judges. They consider each applicant’s awards, extracurriculars, recommendation letters, community service, and volunteer activities—in addition to the students’ written response to this year’s question: “If you could have one do-over in your life, what would it be and why?”
As one of the judges reflected this year: “These high school seniors were impressive. Their essays demonstrated both self-reflection as well as a commitment to have an impact in the community.” Vantage is proud to support these young members in their education, as it empowers them to one day strengthen their local communities.
